Ensuring Clean Air for Children: ASPRA INduct at KNOTZ Kinderopvang

Reducing Indoor Air Pollution in Childcare & Schools with ASPRA INduct

Filtration-Integrated Ventilation for Healthier Childcare Environments

Childcare centers and schools often struggle with poor indoor air quality, as their ventilation relies on natural airflow, infiltration, and recirculation without effective filtration. This results in higher and prolonged peaks of outdoor pollutants indoors, increasing the risk of respiratory issues in children.

To combat this issue, KNOTZ Kinderopvang implemented ASPRA INduct, integrating it with their AHU, fan coil, and recirculation system. The results were striking—85% reduction in airborne particles compared to outdoor air and an 80% reduction compared to a reference classroom. This intervention ensures a safer, healthier indoor environment for children and staff.

About the Project

In childcare centers and schools, maintaining clean indoor air is essential for the health and well-being of children and staff. However, many educational facilities rely on natural airflow and infiltration without proper filtration, allowing harmful outdoor pollutants to persist indoors for long durations.

To address this challenge, KNOTZ Kinderopvang partnered with VFA Solutions to install ASPRA INduct. By connecting ASPRA INduct to the existing AHU, fan coil, and recirculation system, the facility significantly reduced indoor air pollution, ensuring healthy, particle-free air for students and teachers.

“Ventilation is crucial, but ensuring particle-free inlet air is the key to reducing indoor aerosols effectively.”

Detailed Approach

Problem Description

Many childcare centers and schools rely on natural ventilation and recirculation systems that lack proper air filtration. As a result, outdoor pollution peaks directly impact indoor air quality, leading to higher and longer-lasting airborne particle concentrations inside classrooms.

This situation can cause respiratory issues, allergies, and discomfort for children and staff. Without effective filtration, educational facilities remain vulnerable to harmful ultrafine particles (UFPs) and aerosols circulating in the air.

The Solution

To create a cleaner and healthier learning environment, KNOTZ Kinderopvang implemented ASPRA INduct by integrating it with the facility’s AHU, fan coil, and recirculation system. This technology ensures that inlet air is particle-free, preventing indoor air pollution spikes caused by outdoor contaminants.

By efficiently removing airborne particles, including ultrafine particles (UFPs), ASPRA INduct helps to maintain a stable, clean indoor air environment, ensuring that students and teachers can breathe safely while reducing health risks.

The Result

Following the installation of ASPRA INduct, indoor air quality dramatically improved. Measurements showed an 85% reduction in airborne particles compared to outdoor levels and an 80% decrease compared to a reference classroom.

By effectively filtering particles from ventilation air, ASPRA INduct has helped KNOTZ Kinderopvang create a healthier, safer indoor space for children, proving that proper filtration is essential for reducing indoor aerosol exposure in schools and daycare centers.
