Optimizing Air Quality in Logistic Centers: ASPRA PMC for Dust Reduction
Reducing Dust Concentrations in Large-Scale Logistics Centers
High dust concentrations in logistics centers can lead to health risks, hygiene issues, and increased operational costs. Kuehne + Nagel sought an effective and sustainable air purification solution to maintain a healthy workplace while preventing excessive dust accumulation in their 20,000 m² facility.
Following extensive research, VFA Solutions’ ASPRA PMC air purifiers were selected for their high capacity, sustainability, and low operational costs. A total of nine ASPRA PMC air purifiers, each with a capacity of 10,000 m³/hour, were installed to recirculate and purify the air. The result was a remarkable 63% reduction in PM10, PM2.5, PM1, and UFPs, surpassing current and future WHO & EU air quality standards.

About the Project
In large-scale logistics centers, dust concentrations can pose serious risks to employee health, product hygiene, and operational efficiency. Activities such as loading and unloading trucks, processing goods, sorting pallets, and handling cardboard and plastics contribute to high levels of particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5, PM1, and UFPs).
To proactively tackle air quality concerns, Kuehne + Nagel initiated a search for a sustainable, cost-effective, and high-performance air purification system. After evaluating multiple solutions, VFA Solutions’ ASPRA PMC air purifiers were unanimously chosen due to their high filtration efficiency, energy-saving technology, and flexible installation options. The installation of nine ASPRA PMC units successfully eliminated dust clouds, improved air visibility, and enhanced working conditions.

Detailed Approach

Problem Description
High dust levels in logistics centers can cause serious health risks, hygiene issues, and increased maintenance costs. Activities such as loading, unloading, and processing goods generate airborne dust, which can exceed safe limits set by WHO & EU standards. Additionally, unpleasant odors from food and liquid residues contributed to a less-than-optimal working environment.
To ensure a healthy and comfortable workplace, Kuehne + Nagel took proactive measures to reduce PM10 concentrations and find a sustainable air purification solution. They required a cost-effective system that could handle large air volumes without complex installations or excessive energy costs.
The Solution
After thorough evaluation, Kuehne + Nagel selected ASPRA PMC recirculation air purifiers, developed by VFA Solutions, due to their high capacity, low operational costs, and superior air filtration performance. A total of nine ASPRA PMC units, each with a capacity of 10,000 m³/h, were strategically placed near dust sources to maximize particle removal efficiency.
These air purifiers use self-cleaning technology to remove coarse dust particles, significantly reducing maintenance requirements. By distributing the ASPRA PMC air purifiers across the facility, the system effectively captures ultrafine dust and particles, ensuring optimal air distribution and circulation.

The Result
The implementation of ASPRA PMC air purifiers successfully reduced dust concentrations by 63%, not only for PM10 but also PM2.5, PM1, and UFPs. This reduction exceeded current air quality standards and even anticipated future WHO & EU regulations.
Beyond measurable results, employees reported fewer respiratory irritations, clearer visibility, and an overall cleaner work environment. Managers also noted a significant decrease in dust accumulation on surfaces and machinery, reducing maintenance and operational disruptions. The ASPRA PMC system proved to be a highly effective, sustainable, and scalable air purification solution for logistics centers.
