Kipster: Improving Air Quality & Animal Welfare with ASPRA Agro Air Purifiers

Healthier Air for Chickens & Farmers with ASPRA Agro Air Purifiers

Reducing Particulate Matter & Emissions in Poultry Farming

Kipster, known as the world's most animal- and environmentally-friendly chicken farm, prioritizes the well-being of both its chickens and farmers. As part of their commitment to sustainability and animal welfare, Kipster sought a solution to reduce high particulate matter concentrations in its stables.

By installing eight ASPRA Agro air purifiers, Kipster successfully reduced particulate matter levels by 40–45% within the farm. This improvement resulted in cleaner air, lower emissions, and healthier living conditions for both animals and farmers, contributing to a more sustainable and responsible agricultural operation.

About the Project

On September 15–16, 2017, Kipster celebrated the grand opening of what is considered the world's most sustainable and animal-friendly poultry farm. With a strong focus on reducing environmental impact and improving animal welfare, air quality inside the farm became a top priority. Poor air quality, caused by high particulate matter concentrations, poses risks not only to the health of the chickens but also to farmers working in these environments.

To tackle this challenge, Kipster installed eight ASPRA Agro recirculation air purifiers, which actively remove dust, fine particles, and airborne pathogens directly at the source. The result? A 40–45% reduction in particulate matter inside the farm, leading to cleaner air, fewer emissions, and a healthier working and living environment. By addressing air pollution inside the farm, ASPRA Agro air purifiers contribute to a safer and more sustainable agricultural industry.

Detailed Approach

Problem Description

In poultry farms, poor air quality caused by high levels of particulate matter, bacteria, and airborne viruses can negatively impact both animal health and farmer well-being. Intensive farming practices often contribute to poor indoor air quality, making air purification inside the farm essential.

At Kipster, where animal welfare and sustainability are top priorities, it became clear that a targeted air purification solution was needed to reduce particulate matter emissions and improve indoor air quality for both chickens and farmers. The challenge was to develop an energy-efficient, low-maintenance solution that would effectively filter out harmful pollutants.

The Solution

To address these concerns, Kipster implemented eight ASPRA Agro air purifiers from VFA Solutions in collaboration with SmitsAgro, a supplier for the agricultural sector. These purifiers use electrostatic filtration technology to remove airborne viruses, bacteria, fine dust, and particulate matter directly at the source.

The ASPRA Agro air purifiers significantly improve air quality inside the stable by filtering out harmful microbes such as Bovine Adenovirus, E. Coli bacteria, and Staphylococcus aureus. The result is a healthier environment for animals and farmers, ensuring better animal welfare, higher productivity, and improved sustainability in poultry farming.

The Result

With the installation of ASPRA Agro air purifiers, Kipster achieved a 40–45% reduction in particulate matter, dramatically improving air quality inside the stables. This reduces the spread of diseases, minimizes dust exposure, and creates healthier living conditions for chickens.

The energy-efficient and low-maintenance nature of the ASPRA Agro system allows farmers to focus on operations without frequent filter replacements or high operational costs. By proactively addressing air quality challenges, Kipster sets a new standard for sustainable and animal-friendly poultry farming.
